Daphne Joyce Wu is a Midwest-born and raised student writer, filmmaker, and actress studying Film & Media Studies and Economics at Yale University. She has directed four short films: drama Black Coffee (2024), comedy The Very Sad Tale of Gerald Humm (2024), rom-com Heartbreak Avenue (2023), experimental Yin Yang (2023), and a film for the YSO Halloween Show, Frosh’d and Found.
This year, Daphne wrapped her debut feature thriller film titled Lux et Veritas, and is completing her historical feature screenplay, Under the Ginkgo Trees, as her Yale thesis. For post-graduation, she received a Parker Huang Fellowship to direct a feature documentary on the Chinese diaspora.
Daphne is a fellow at FilmIndependent x HieronyVision, Emma Bowen Foundation, T. Howard Foundation, and The Gotham. She has interned at United Talent Agency, Paramount, ACE Entertainment, Toluca Pictures, Gracie Films and Lionsgate.
